Government of Canada invests in WearWell Garments Limited

Stellarton, Nova Scotia September 11, 2013

The Honourable Peter MacKay, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada and Regional Minister for Nova Scotia, announced that the clothing manufacturer, WearWell Garments Limited will be receiving financial assistance.

Founded in 1970, the Stellarton based company offers a complete line of clothing for various industries. All of the manufactured garments are made in Canada and produced in their out company facilities. “Jobs, growth and a strong, competitive regional economy are top priorities for our Government,” said Minister MacKay, on behalf of the Honourable Rob Moore, Minister of State (Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency).

The WearWell Garment Company will use the financial assistance in order to increase their productivity and enhance competitiveness. “The finding we receive through this project will allow us to modernize our equipment, improving our productivity and enabling us to expand into new markets” said Stirling MacLean, President and Chief Operating Officer of WearWell Garments Limited. The Government of Canada will invest to the WearWell Garments Company in the form of a $47,760 repayable contribution.

“We are proud to support WearWell Garments as it increases its productivity and expands into new markets, creating economic growth in our rural community” concluded Minister Mackay.
