CLEAN ENERGY FIRM RECIEVES FUNDING FROM THE GOVERNMENT OF CANADA TO PRODUCE BIO-BASED LUBRICANTS AND FUELS

Kingston, ON, July 15th 2014

Altranex Corporation has entered into a Contribution Agreement with the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP). Canada’s premier innovation assistance program for small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The funding under the agreement will share the cost for Altranex to scale-up the production of Altranex’s Altra-HF™ shipping fuel and other products. The financial support is up to $200,000.

“The NRC-IRAP program has recognized the innovative approach that Altranex has taken to making the shipping and lubricants industries more sustainable.” said Chad Joshi, CEO of Altranex. “This funding moves the company along the path towards the production of commercial quantities of product.”

“In our first year with NRC-IRAP support we were able to attract a multinational oil company as a co-investor at a faster pace than our plan. Advisory services provided by the NRC-IRAP Industrial Technology Advisor assigned to the file on other government funding programs and her connections to other companies and contacts in the Cleantech sector have been valuable.”

Altranex Corp. is a Kingston, Ontario-based bio-chemicals company that develops and markets bio-lubricants and commercial transportation fuels.

2014 GOVERNMENT GRANTS FOR BUSINESS

Ottawa, Ontario January 1st, 2014

2014 is upon us and many small businesses owners are looking to maximize their businesses growth for the coming year. Government Grants and Government secured Loans are two of the tools available to Canadian Businesses in order for them to take advantage of the various opportunities that may present themselves in this New year.

Depending on the industry that a business operates in, the first few months of the year can be busy or quiet. Regardless of wether a business has a seasonal high, or low in terms of activity at this time of year, it remains the optimal time to pursue funding for the upcoming year's ventures.

New programs are often introduced in January of every year. Many of the funding programs that have been announced over the previous year will come into effect at the beginning of a calendar year. A lesser known fact is that many government grants and government loans programs have a fixed annual budget that resets in sync with the calendar year.

These two facts combine to present a unique opportunity for Canadian business owners:

This is the best time of year to invest in your business with Government Grants and Government Loans.

As in previous years program funding may be available for the following business endeavours:

  • Starting a new business
  • Expanding an existing business
  • Investing in capital expenditures (equipment etc.)
  • Making improvements to existing company facilities (lease hold improvements)
  • Purchasing real-estate for business purposes
  • Investing in skills training for staff
  • Employment and hiring subsidies for new workers
  • Agricultural subsidies
  • Manufacturing subsidies
  • Assistance for export related business endeavours
  • Tax credits and direct subsidies for business research (product or processes)
  • Various other purposes

In order to make sure that a business qualifies, the business need simply follow the following rule to sucess with government funding:

GOVERNMENT OF CANADA FUNDING VENTURE CAPITAL SERVICE

Niagara Falls, Ontario - November 2013

Providing government grants and government secured loans is only 1 of the many ways that the Government of Canada encourages and supports Canadian businesses.

One of the most important functions of the Government in business financing opportunities for small business is in encouraging venture capital investments in business start-ups.

To this effect the Canadian Government is renewing it’s commitment to venture capital and angel investor development through increased funding of The Niagara Angel Network. Thanks to this $100,000 investment, The Niagara Angel Network will be able to connect more angel investors with promising new start-up businesses across the Niagara region. The investment is being provided through FedDev Ontario's Investing in Business Innovation (IBI) initiative.

The Niagara Angel Network is a not-for-profit angel network located in Niagara-on-the-Lake, and is part of the Ontario Network of Angel Organizations. This new investment permits the Angel Network to expand its base of active angel investors to respond to the funding needs of business start-ups.

In 2011, the Niagara Angel Network received $50,000 through the IBI initiative to expand its angel investor base through investment attraction activities. This financial support led to increased membership in the Network, and an increased availability of capital in the Niagara Region.

"This funding has helped our Angel investor group exceed $3 million worth of investments while leveraging an additional $10.8 million from other sources of funding," according to Terry Mactaggart, Chairman for Niagara Angel Network. "With the Government of Canada's support, the Niagara Angel Network is helping to build the next generation of companies in Niagara and beyond."

FedDev Ontario supports the southern Ontario economy by creating opportunities for jobs and economic growth. The Investing in Business Innovation initiative is part of FedDev Ontario's Southern Ontario Advantage initiatives. Over $420 million in funding has been committed to date. More than 240 projects have received funding under the Southern Ontario Advantage initiatives, resulting in partnerships with more than 5,000 organizations, and over $1.2 billion in additional leveraged investments from various sources.
