Government of Canada invests in six Start-Up Development Companies
Ottawa, Ontario March 22, 2013
The Honourable Gordon O’Connor, Member of Parliament for Carleton – Mississippi Mills, announced that six start-up technology development companies will be granted financial assistance.
BLINQ WIRELESS INC. will be granted financial assistance from the Government of Canada up to $984,667.
ESIGHT CORP. is receiving financial assistance up to $950,000.
IMPAKT PROTECTIVE INC. will be receiving financial assistance in the form of a $500,000 contribution.
MAGOR COMMUNICATIONS CORP. will be receiving financial assistance in the form of a $500,000 contribution.
FUSEBILL INC. is receiving financial assistance up to $450,000.
THINKRF CORPORATION will be receiving financial assistance in the form of a $287,500 contribution.
“Our Government continues to support the drivers of growth and job creation – innovation, investment, education, skills and communities,” said Minister O’Connor. The Government of Canada will be investing in all six companies an amount of over to $3.5 million.
The companies are expected to create 123 high-value, full-time jobs in the Ottawa area with an additional 202 jobs by 2017.

BC Bioenergy Network Invests in Quadrogen Power Systems
Vancouver, British Columbia March 13, 2013
The BC Bioenergy Network (BCBN) announced that the firm Quadrogen Power Systems Inc. will be receiving financial assistance.
BC Bioenergy is an association that acts as a catalyst for deploying bioenergy technologies and organizing research for the development and demonstration of new bioenergy technologies. The firm is located in British Columbia.
Quadrogen Power Systems, Inc. builds and installs high performance biogas clean-up solutions capable of purifying renewable fuels from any source. The firm will be granted a $1.5 million government-backed loan. The firm will use the loan to expand their system which will process higher gas quantities.
“BC Bioenergy Network helped us move faster on the bio-methane application of our technology and quantify the potential of its commercial scale applications,” states Alakh Prasad, President, Quadrogen Power Systems Inc.
“We have assembled a large high quality team of partners that include clean technology funders, developers, and an agricultural customer who share the goal of producing clean sustainable energy from organic waste materials.”

Federal Government Announces Government Loan For Western Hydrogen Limited
Calgary, Alberta March 11th, 2013
The Federal Government announced that Western Hydrogen will be granted financial assistance. “Our Government is doing its part to encourage innovation and the next wave of clean technologies to help protect our environment and create high-quality jobs,” said the Honourable Joe Oliver, Canada’s Minister of Natural Resources. “Investment in projects such as these demonstrates our leadership in driving a vibrant clean technology industry in Canada.”
The firm Western Hydrogen Limited is a Canadian owned company, based in Calgary, Alberta. The firm is “dedicated to the development and commercialization of a new hydrogen manufacturing technology called Molten Salt Catalyzed Gasification.”
“Producing hydrogen is one of the most expensive and carbon intensive parts of the oil sands business. If we can produce it more cheaply and cleanly – we’ll have a real winner,” said Neil Camarta, president and chief executive officer of Western Hydrogen. The firm will be granted financial assistance in the form of a $1.45 million in federal funding.

Government of Canada invests in Quebec Bio-Tech Firm
Levis, Quebec March 5th, 2013
The Honourable Steven Blaney, Minister of Veterans Affairs, on behalf of the honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, announced that the firm Biovelia has been granted financial assistance.
Biovelia will use the financial assistance from the Government of Canada for the commercialization of an innovative product. The firm Biovelia is a privately owned company that created a brand new pharma-delivery system. The “ALL NATURAL Controlled-Release Delivery Systems” is designed to keep any active ingredient from being disintegrated in gastric fluids. “This technology is designed for nutraceutical products, food supplements, and therapeutic applications.”
“This financial support we are announcing to Biovelia illustrates that Government of Canada’s determination to take affect measures to stimulate growth and employment and to strengthen the competitiveness of the Canadian economy,” said Minister Blaney. The firm will be granted financial assistance in the form of a $70,000 repayable contribution.
